Sir Tom Finney, OBE

Former Preston North End and England football legend, Sir Tom Finney OBE, made a surprise visit to Much Hoole Woodland Burial Ground in 2007. We spent a lovely evening with him - had a long chat and a cup of tea - and had a nice walk around the grounds together. We were very honoured that he took the time to come along and visit us - a great man!

After spending time with us, Sir Tom Finney had this to say …

A peaceful resting place which gives comfort to relatives and friends.  I am most impressed" -
Sir Tom Finney OBE

The first consecrated Woodland Burial Ground in the country

In 2005, I was granted permission to turn part of my land into the first privately-owned consecrated Woodland Burial Ground in the country.  So unique was it, that we were featured on television and other media.

God’s Acre Chapel

The recently built God's Acre Chapel at Much Hoole Woodland Burial Ground was consecrated in May of 2012 in the presence of the Bishop of Burnley and our Patron, Pam Rhodes (TV presenter from BBC's Songs of Praise).  This Chapel provides a place for funeral services for those of religious or non-religious beliefs, or can be used solely as a meeting point for family and friends attending the Burial Ground.  It can also provide a shelter in inclement weather.

Pam Rhodes

We are delighted to have Pam Rhodes as our Patron. You may know Pam Rhodes as the TV presenter from BBC’s Songs of Praise.
